Shikharji at Siddhachalam Yatra

The yatra is approximately 2 miles and takes an hour of brisk walking; sunrise to sunset. Most Tonks are wheel-chair friendly if with an attendant; however, stairs between Tonks of Shri Chandraprabhu and Shri Adinath preclude use of wheel-chair there. Please ask on-site staff for directions. Reserved handicapped parking is available.

Find Your Favorite Meditation Spot

Siddhachalam is a paradise for the meditation-minded! There is no place quite like it anywhere! Come, and find your favorite spot! Need help? Start with Parsvnath Temple or the Old Temple!

Acharya Sushil Gurve Namah

The summer is finally upon us.

Siddhachalam is resplendent green, the peacock family is about to have one or more additions, the new playfield has new swings (and silver sands to cushion a fall), and the community hall has a new yoga room where you can also tumble! (the new carpet in the main temple is also very soft but we do not recommend that for a somersault!).

Plus, Siddhachalam has this summer something no school, camp or playground can provide you – the chance to meet and talk with a real Jain monk (a “sadhu”)!

________________

You know that it’s joyful to be a Jain – to believe in the sacredness of all forms of life, to protect the environment, and to develop extraordinary reserves of personal strength and character through self-awareness. Jain sadhus and sadhavis (nuns) exemplify that strength of character – they are courageous men and women who have given up everything in order to pursue self-realization.

Two of them, Acharya Roopchandji Maharaj and Munishri Amrenderji Maharaj, will be with us on Sunday, July 13, and are looking forward to meeting with children and their families. Plus, we will have with us a yoga master from Delhi, Arun Tiwari, who is particularly good in teaching children about yoga!

Questions? Time to Ask!!

Each of Acharyashri and Munishri has been a Jain monk for more than 50 years. Each has also founded schools in India for orphans and poor children.

Come and learn of their work and ask them questions about what is it like to be a Jain monk? Is it tough, is it easy, is it fun, is it challenging, is it satisfying? What is it to be different from someone with a family life? Do they miss family? Does their family miss them? Be daring, and ask them big questions – is there God? Who’s God? What is a Jina? An arihant? A siddha? Why do some of us go to the temple? Why are you a vegetarian? Go ahead – July 13 is your day to ask all those questions that were lurking in your mind!

Bonus – you do not have to be a child to ask these questions – you just need to be a curious mind!

Welcome!
